  I dunno about dubs taking legal action against householders... how would they justify their intrusion in the first place? They go out and ASK for abuse by their arogant behavior, we've all seen or experienced it.

  I don't advocate siccing Rottie and Dobie on the hapless r&f drones. I prefer the intellectual and verbal sawed-off-shotgun to actual firearms. But I sure do understand the frustration of night workers, harried housewives, and other disgruntled folks who just want the wacky cultoids to keep their religion in their pants and quit knocking on doors exposing it to all&sundry... if JWs want to be unmolested, they should try being a WHOLE lot more tactful and sensible. No means 'no' in any language!

  When I was preggers with Little Dark, I was restricted to bed rest during the heat of the day. We set up a bed in the front room so I could be in the midst of things. I answered the door one day and it was a JW elder. I told him politely that I had to get off my feet and was really NOT interested. He stood there nattering at me, trying to guilt me with my unborn child's horror-fraught future in the horrible world, reading 'just one more' scripture, nattering, nattering... until finally I just shut the door in his stupid face, left him in mid-natter, and the old idiot had the nerve to try knocking again!

  This sort of behavior is why JWs get shot at and screamed at and dogs sicced on them. I doubt a sane judge would believe a JW is just an innocent victim of assault. Most householders could claim temporary insanity by reason of extreme provocation...

  while the society have certainly printed much regrettable material i believe it is fair to admit that there was fine material too as was noted by other posters in different threads almost all of us were initially attracted to jws and i trust it often was because of good stuff printed.. one quote from the commentary on the letter of james i found appealing:.

  discussing james 3:17 the book says:.

  the wisdom from above makes a person reasonable, yielding, moderate or forbearing, not fanatical in his zeal .

  Isn't the _Commentary on James_ some of Ray Franz' work? And isn't it now considered one of the 'suspect apostate infiltrations' that were rumored to have stemmed from the Bethel Apostasy? Dang now I'll have to go search-crawling until I can find that bit of gossip again to verify... unless one of you research geniuses can help me sort it out.

  Stephanus: yes, I agree with you, the judge was quite fair considerng it was an individual case and not a suit against the corporate entity.

  Like I sais, it's refreshing when common sense occasionally rears its head in the wacky world of cultism.

  waiting: sometimes speaking face to face is just too...intimate...for a wounded heart to bear. I still have trouble being touched (physically, spiritually, emotionally) even when I am pretty sure it's benign. Sometimes it's easier to talk on these boards precisely because of the distance they provide.

  I don't mean to speak for Wounded, but I know I have in the past inadvertently hurt internet net friends who wanted to 'reach out and touch' me...I can't always overcome the urge to cringe away...

  WT website-shunning-Where is it????

  i, along with many others here, saw on the wt official website, in the faqs section, their answer to the question "do jw's shun former memebers?"..

  we've posted many comments on their response on various threads, such as on qwerty's topic "wt-faq on shunning--" just yesterday.. this morning i went to that site to copy it, and it seems to be gone....unless i'm not awake yet.. is it gone or did i somehow miss it?.

  also....i did a 'search' on their official site, on the word "shunning" ... result was "no results" so i changed it to "disfellowshipping" and the article on "child custody" came back as the only reference.

  My mommy would wash my mouth out with soap if I lied as big and fat as those guys lie to the public...

  Somebody, I just went over there and clicked on 'beliefs' and I can't see anything that remotely resembles 'FAQ' there. It's all brochures and magazine articles. And yes, I tried the search function and got no return for shunning ordisassociation, an article about child custody that mentions 'disfellowshipping' and a search of 'expulsion' led to an article about fallen angels.

  So am I missing this link or doing something wrong that I can't find it?

  wasted in arguments

  i think a lot of space is wasted in arguments that get personal.

  we are a varied bunch and i think that variety is good.

  i dont want to discourage anyone from posting but personal attacks ( justified or not) dont achieve anything.
